A Celebration should be memorable and enjoyable that remains precious not only in the past but also in the present. My wife and celebrated a milestone in our lives together that will be a touchstone on how we will continue to grow together and cherish the moments that are special to us. The Top Of The Market is the perfect place for us to start that new adventure together. Very excited to share what we experienced together that night! First, reservations was an ease and remember to articulate the special occasion that you may be celebrating. Max reached out personally to gather information about our reservation that showed the care and consideration to make your experience just that more special. Max took the time to confirm and then create a unique memento: a personalized printed menu with a message to commemorate our celebration. Then, we greeted with great enthusiasm and warm hospitality that made us feel so welcomed. When making the reservation, you have a choice of outdoor dining, dining room and Chef's Counter. I made the reservation for two at the Chef's Counter out of curiosity. Max explained how stimulating and entertaining the Chef's Counter experience was so we were very intrigued. My wife thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it!!! And she said that she was going to try a dish the Chef made at home. She's a wonderful cook and was impressed on the quality and the way they were prepared and presented. This was a wonderful experience!!! We were also presented with an amazing appetizer that we saw the Chef cook personally. While he was preparing the dish we watched carefully and how surprised we were when it was presented to us to enjoy compliments of the House!!! It was simply a marvelous surprise!!! Our dinner was also prepared for us to watch!!! When the dishes were finished, we were then enjoyed a perfect meal!!! The scallops cooked to perfection with tasty yam potatoes and a sauce to die for!!! My Double R Filet was so tender, juicy and tasty. A side of the Brussels Sprouts added further to the dinner. This was truly an exceptional meal we will indeed remember. We were also treated to a glass of champagne to celebrate our occasion. Steve was very attentive and appreciative of our presence. The hospitality of the entire staff was excellent. Another plus of the Chef's Counter is we were to preview the various other dishes created for other guests. I think the secret is the amount of butter used...which was a lot!!! We will be back!!! Thank you Top Of The Market for your wonderful hospitality and delicious meals prepared with care and love!!! You've created a beautiful memory for us to always remember with dear feelings!!!!

We had a dinner reservation for my birthday, just the two of us. When we were seated, the menus were already on the table. As we looked at the menus to decide what to order, the top of each one read, "Top of the Market Wishes (your name) a Happy Birthday!". This was such a lovely and welcoming touch! The personalized detail made our special occasion even more memorable. The Oregon Dungeness Crab Cioppino was a bit salty, but still quite enjoyable. I would certainly order it again to see if the excessive salt was a one-time occurrence. My wife's Local Sea Bass was absolutely delicious! Our server, Jonah, was exceptionally courteous and attentive to all our requests. He was very polite and provided excellent, professional service and exceeded his duties. The ambiance of our upstairs outside dining area on the patio at Top of the Market was perfect, offering a beautiful water view and a lovely sunset to enjoy with our dinner. I would definitely recommend a visit here!

The best service I've ever experienced at any fine dining restaurant I've ever been to. My partner and I went for their Valentine's Day special event which was a 5 course meal with plenty of options. (Had to reserve with a $50 deposit that was refunded afterwards and it was about $135/person for this day) They even offered to create a specialized menu with a printed message at the top of the menu for my partner and I. It was lovely and we got to take our menus home. The food was some of the best food I've had as well and I've been to a numerous amount of fine dining restaurants.

I came to Top of the Market to celebrate an anniversary. Parking was not hard to find as I came relatively late at night, and the restaurant was easy to get to. When you enter, you are greeted with a warm ambiance and a very friendly hostess. I mentioned my anniversary when making the reservation, and they customized our menu to reflect the anniversary duration as well as included our names. This added a very personal touch to our overall experience. I came during San Diego Restaurant Week, so I was given the option of a three-course menu for $65, which ended up being a great deal. Among the options on the set menu, we ordered the Chili Garlic Shrimp and Kanpachi Crudo for our appetizers. We also decided to add the Grilled Octopus and New England Clam Chowder from the regular menu. For our entrées, we ordered the Faroe Islands Salmon and the Local Swordfish. Last but not least, we finished with the Dulce De Leche Crème Brûlée and Warm Bread Pudding. Chili Garlic Shrimp (3/5): Big shrimp sizes with decent flavor. The rice was a little too sweet for my liking. As an appetizer, it's a good option, and those who like a sweeter dish would really enjoy it. However, for my personal flavor profile, it did not appeal to me. For the portion size, it is pretty good for the price. Kanpachi Crudo (2/5): I wanted to try this because I've never had anything similar other than sushi, but it did not appeal to me. I thought it lacked flavor, and it was a little hard to taste the fish itself. This type of dish is very clean and light, so you wouldn't feel bad after eating it. Another case where I wanted to try something new, but I didn't end up enjoying it--not due to execution, but simply because I was not the target audience. If you enjoy dishes like this, give it a try. Otherwise, I would choose a different appetizer. Grilled Octopus (5/5): I really enjoy octopus, so I knew I had to try this dish. The cook on the octopus was perfect, but what truly made the dish was the sauce. The hummus they paired with the octopus added so much flavor and complexity that it truly elevated the dish. If I were to rate all the times I've ordered octopus, this had one of the best cooks, and the flavor ranks at the top. A must-try for anyone who enjoys octopus or wants to try it for the first time. New England Clam Chowder (3/5): The clam chowder is not pictured because I forgot to take a photo. It comes with oyster crackers to pair with it. The portion size was average, and the taste was average as well. I would order it if you just want a clam chowder, but I wouldn't go out of my way for this. Local Swordfish (5/5): It was my first time trying swordfish, and I wanted a fatty fish other than salmon. The portion was well worth the price, especially considering it was part of the San Diego Restaurant Week menu. The fish was cooked perfectly--it had a great structure while still melting in my mouth. The forbidden/purple rice included was slightly acidic, which provided a great contrast. I really enjoyed this dish and would recommend it to everyone. Faroe Islands Salmon (4/5): This dish was also generously portioned and had a lot of different elements on the plate. The salmon was cooked perfectly and well-seasoned. The dish itself was really good, but the main downside was that it wasn't as balanced as the swordfish. It felt a little too heavy and really needed some lemon to brighten it up. Overall, still a great dish--it just needed more acidity. Dulce De Leche Crème Brûlée (2/5): I liked the twist they added instead of a traditional crème brûlée, but that was also one of its downsides. The taste was very caramel-like, which makes sense since it was dulce de leche flavored. It was a little too sweet for my liking, and I felt like it needed something else to balance it out, like vanilla. Warm Bread Pudding (2/5): The bread pudding was too dry, and although it was served with ice cream, the ice cream felt like a necessity rather than a complement. Flavor-wise, it was decent, but the dryness made it unsatisfying to eat. All in all, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy a nice dinner for a special occasion or even a random weeknight. I do most of my ratings based on taste alone, but I also ordered a variety of dishes that might skew the rating compared to if I had just ordered dishes I knew I would like. I would say my overall rating is closer to a 4.5, mainly due to the outstanding service. The personal touches, as well as the friendly hostess, already set a positive mood. Once the dining experience began, our server was extremely friendly and provided excellent service. I regret not remembering his name since I'm writing this review after some time, but he greatly enhanced our experience. Safe to say, I would recommend anyone to try this place at least once. Last but not least, I want to give a special thank you to the staff who made my night!

Excellent service. Delicious food. Will visit again. Came for a company event. Enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend the seafood dishes. My partner got the Snake River wagyu but thought was too lean. The clam chowder and prawn scampi were delicious!

Top of the Market is on the Bay front, the view is gorgeous. Specializes in seafood but there are meat options available. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable. Prices are reasonable and there is an extensive drinks and wine menu. They do very nice events here. We have been for wine and champagne tastings and wine specially dinners. All were great.

Truly an amazing experience!! If you love seafood this place is for you. Amazing food and ambiance was great:)

Best service and the best food in San Diego. We had my husband's birthday dinner here and Suzanne made it really special by adding a welcome message to our menus. Jonas was our waiter and he was excellent. His suggestions and timing with our meal was perfect. We started off our meal with a special appetizer by Alfonso. We could not have asked for a better experience.

Service was excellent. White table cloth experience. Concerned that children were running rampant through the restaurant but it's not a "no kids" place. Somewhat ruining the ambiance for us. Otherwise, food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Would recommend.

I was down in the San Diego downtown area today and after visiting the USS Midway museum, I decided to check out Top of the Market. I usually sit at the Bar and the bar at this restaurant is just beautiful. Jeff was the bartender and he started me out with their signature Bloody Mary which was just amazing. Jeff advised me that he makes the BM mix himself which shows what that he is a very talented bartender. I also ordered the Smoked Salmon which was also amazing. After all that, I asked Jeff if he could suggest a good Pilsner and he suggested the Plenty for All which is from a local brewery. Overall just a fantastic afternoon at Top of the Market. Be sure to say Hi to Jeff the Bartender
